Independent Childcare Provider Training Programme in Vietnam
Early childhood care and education play a transformative role in a child’s life, shaping their development trajectory over their lifetimes. However, in Southeast Asia, approximately 31 million children under the age of six miss out on crucial opportunities for growth as they do not have access to quality early childhood services and safe learning environments.
In Vietnam, more families have been moving into urban industrial zones in pursuit of economic opportunities. As a result, more than 400,000 young children of factory workers residing in these areas are left in the care of independent childcare providers. However, these well-meaning independent childcare providers often lack the training, resources and support needed to provide children with nurturing care and stimulating learning opportunities.
To address this issue, Quantedge Advancement Initiative is supporting OneSky’s Independent Childcare Provider Training Programme in Vietnam. Through a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and Training in Vietnam, OneSky will design and pilot a Train-the-Trainers model to deliver their renowned childcare training programme to independent childcare providers, to eventually be scaled across Vietnam’s industrial zones.
OneSky’s childcare provider training programme has been recognised for its effectiveness and impact, demonstrating significant and sustained improvements in childcare quality and child development outcomes such as fine motor skills, visual perception, and early learning.

OneSky’s pilot Train-the-Trainer model marks the start of an effort to uplift the quality of early childhood care and education across Vietnam’s industrial zones. The initiative will strategically focus on:
- Ensuring Sustainability: Equip government staff and early childhood education professionals to implement OneSky’s childcare training programme.
- Empowering Communities: Strengthen overall local capacity to support child development, by providing independent childcare providers with lifelong continuous professional development opportunities through OneSky’s blended online learning platform.
- Establishing Evidence: Support a rigorous randomised controlled trial study by IDinsight and Research and Training Centre for Community Development (RTCCD) to evaluate and refine OneSky’s model for nationwide scaling.
We hope that our support for this project will catalyse long-term, systemic impact by ensuring children in Vietnam’s industrial zones have access to the quality early childhood care and developmental opportunities they need to thrive now and well into the future.
