30x30 Southeast Asia Ocean Fund
The world has set an ambitious goal - protect 30% of the world’s ocean by 2030 to safeguard biodiversity, sustain fisheries, and build climate resilience. Yet less than 3% of national waters are formally protected in Southeast Asia.
To address this critical gap, Quantedge Advancement Initiative has joined the 30x30 Southeast Asia Ocean Fund, a collaborative initiative that convenes regional and global donors to grant at least USD 5 million over five years to accelerate marine protection in the region.
Supported by the Asia Community Foundation and co-chaired by Rumah Foundation and Oceankind, the Fund is dedicated to achieving the ambitious target of protecting 30% of Southeast Asia’s ocean by 2030. This goal is crucial for preserving the region’s rich marine biodiversity and securing the livelihoods of millions who depend on healthy ocean ecosystems.

The Fund prioritises funding for frontline communities and domestic civil society organisations, recognising the vital role they play in marine conservation. These efforts are focused on three core objectives:
- Create: Identify and establish new marine protected and conserved areas
- Expand: Increase coverage of existing marine protected and conserved areas
- Strengthen: Support the effective management of these vital areas
To achieve these objectives and ensure a comprehensive approach to marine conservation, the Fund will support a diverse range of activities, including capacity building, policy and planning, outreach and education, and more.
The Fund is accepting grant applications on a rolling basis. We strongly encourage interested organisations to explore how you can be part of the Fund to drive impactful marine conservation.
