Tasek Rising

Bridging the school-holiday gap for at-risk youth, Tasek Rising's residential camps turn risky idle time into hands-on learning, mentorship, and personal growth.

Tasek Rising is a pilot mentoring programme run by Tasek Academy and Social Services that provides academic, socio-emotional, and personal support for at-risk secondary school students through school-holiday residential camps.

At-risk students face a gap in support during the school holidays. Without the regular supervision and guidance they receive during the school term, they become prone to engaging in risky behaviours that harm their development. To continue engaging and supporting these students, Tasek offers camps with novel, hands-on experiences during the June, September, and December holidays.

Participants are taught interpersonal skills and encouraged to identify and work towards their personal goals, with guidance from mentors who facilitate reflection on applying these skills to other areas of their lives. Through exposure to novel experiences and applied activities, participants create positive memories and are given opportunities to experience the joy of learning in multi-disciplinary ways. Their development is sustained between camps through action plans and regular check-in sessions with mentors.
