The philanthropy ecosystem requires many elements to work well - philanthropy advisors to guide wealth owners on funding impact, and also social innovators to drive impactful solutions that are worthy of funding. Professional education is thus key to levelling up the expertise of these parties.

We are partnering with Wealth Management Institute’s Asia Centre for Changemakers (ACC) on two of their signature education programmes, the Certified Impact Philanthropy Professional (CIPP) certification, and the Changemaker Impact Endeavour Fellowship (CHIEF) programme. ACC was launched by Temasek Trust and Philanthropy Asia Alliance in 2023.

For philanthropy advisors, completing two programmes culminates in becoming Certified Impact Philanthropy Professionals. The 2-day Foundational Certificate in Philanthropy and Social Impact covers the Why, How and What of philanthropy strategy. Adding to that, the 3-day Advanced Certificate in Philanthropy and Social Impact covers more technical skills, including philanthropy archetypes, theory of change, tax considerations, and facilitating impact visits to potential grantees.

CHIEF is a 12-month Advanced Diploma in Impact Capital and Social Innovation, comprising three modules, and a capstone project. The CHIEF curriculum is designed and delivered in conjunction with the London School of Economics Marshall Institute. Social innovators participate in CHIEF together with wealth owners, some of whom are next-generation business leaders.

Intended Outcomes

The partnership with ACC aims to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Individual outcomes (for philanthropy advisors): Greater knowledge of the impact landscape, and increased capabilities to support clients in their philanthropy goals

  • Individual outcomes (for social innovators): Personal impact roadmaps

  • Sector outcomes: Increased sophistication around funding social sector needs; strategic and thoughtful social innovation
