Circle of Care
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to grow to his or her fullest potential and that in his or her formative years, the surrounding environment and lived experiences play a defining role in the child’s development. We are happy to partner Care Corner in its continuing efforts to enhance the Circle of Care programme, which adopts a holistic and integrated approach to create a conducive environment for at-risk children to flourish and achieve their maximum potential.
Circle Of Care is a prevention and early intervention programme model that reaches out to children from low socio-economic backgrounds in partner preschools. The model combines brain science, social work and early childhood approaches in the provision of specialized services and support for the child in the community. Launched in 2013, the model brings together professionals who usually work apart into an interdisciplinary team, comprising educational therapists, health specialists, social workers, teachers and principals. The interdisciplinary team serves to provide holistic and coordinated care for the child and his family. Working hand in glove with parents and professionals and partners in the community, Circle of Care weaves a stronger system of support and a circle of care around the at-risk child. Strong foundations are built in the early years of the child, facilitating successful transitions into primary schools.
Quantedge Foundation is co-funding Phase 3 of Circle of Care. A continuous quality improvement process would be in place to develop, test, and evaluate programme components of the model to achieve better outcomes for children. The model will be scaled to expand its reach from partnering the existing 10 pre-schools to 30 pre-schools and 7 primary schools in three community clusters by 2023.
