A Gateway for Life

Picture
Digitalisation is transforming jobs, industries, and economies worldwide. However, many young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, risk being left behind due to a lack of digital skills. To bridge this gap, we must prioritise Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes to equip youths with the knowledge, skills and opportunities to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving job market.

Quantedge Advancement Initiative, in partnership with UBS Optimus Foundation, is supporting Passerelles Numériques’ ‘A Gateway for Life’ project. Over a three-year period, the project will strengthen Passerelles Numériques’ digital training programmes in Cambodia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, to create a more sustainable model for long-term impact.

Passerelles Numériques offers a holistic training programme designed to increase access to sustainable and meaningful employment in the digital sector for disadvantaged youths. Its approach includes:
  • Equipping youths with relevant employability skills through technical and vocational training, on-the-job training and professional skills development.
  • Addressing barriers to employment by offering career guidance, socio-educational support, and living expenses support.
  • Promoting gender equality by ensuring that at least 50% of the students enrolled at its training centres are young women, thus fostering greater female participation in the digital workforce

Additionally, Passerelles Numériques will implement innovative pedagogical approaches in its training centres by training its educators on teaching methods, such as project-based learning and differentiated instruction. The project will also support the capacity-building of Passerelles Numériques’ local teams for improved programme delivery and greater financial sustainability, enabling Passerelles Numériques to scale its reach and impact.

Investing in youth employability creates lasting benefits on youths’ employment prospects and earning potential. This allows them and their families to break the cycle of poverty. We hope that our support for the project will empower young people from underserved communities to reach their full potential and build a brighter future for themselves, their families and their communities.
